At Vilonia United Methodist Church, we learn how to love Christ as a community through groups made up of our members. We have groups for every age, from Children to Youth to multiple Adult classes. Wherever you may be in life, let VUMC help you on your way to discovering just how you can best encounter, love, and serve God and Jesus.

Below you will find links to a few of our different ministries. Below the links are descriptions of many of our other ministries that are available to members and attendees of VUMC.

Music Ministry

Music is an important way of praising God. The Sanctuary Choir leads the congregation in singing hymns in the traditional service. They bless the congregation with special music and anthems most Sundays. At special times of the church year, particularly Advent and Lent, a Cantata is presented using children, instruments, and readers. Also, please let Scott, our Director of Music Ministries, know if you would be interested in doing a special, vocal or instrumental.

Children’s Ministry

We believe that children are an important part of God’s Kingdom. They are a blessing to us and are active participants in worship as well as Christian Education experiences. Rotation Sunday School is at 10:15 a.m. on Sunday Mornings and includes Pre-K - 5th Grade. The Power Express Curriculum is used to teach children Bible Stories in multiple learning styles. Children enjoy cooking, art, storytelling, movies, play-acting, and more to learn. Preschool Sunday School for 2- to 3-year-olds is in a self-contained classroom. Age-appropriate activities teach children about the world around them and about God’s love for them.

Tween Sunday School/Confirmation

In between Children and Youth are the Tweens, made up of 6th and 7th graders. Every other year this age group participates in Confirmation using a curriculum called Credo. This curriculum helps young people know their faith story--from creation to Christianity--confirm their faith by learning and embracing the essential beliefs and practices of The United Methodist Church, and take their vows to embark on the Christian journey. At the end of this school year, youths that are ready to confirm the vows that their parents made for them at birth, and profess their faith in Jesus, are confirmed. If these Tweens have not been baptized previously, they will also partake in the baptism ceremony. During the years when confirmation is not offered, a special curriculum is taught that deals with the Christian life and appropriate topics of importance to this age group.

Wednesdays With God

Held during the school year beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday evenings with a Fellowship Dinner in the Family Life Center. After dinner children pre-K to 4th grade meet with adult leaders to enjoy a midweek lesson and activities centered on God’s love for them and what it means to be a disciple. Grades 5-7,8-9and10-12 meet to learn more about the Bible through age-appropriate activities.

Men’s Bible Study

As a group, our men meet at 6 a.m. on Wednesday mornings for an ongoing study of the Bible, fellowship, and a bit of good, Southern breakfast. They also meet on some Saturday mornings for work around the church.
